Music on Sunday, Traditional New Year's Concert Vienna

Every New Year's day we have a tradition in our family; we watch the New Year's day Concert from Vienna. I love it and think it's a great way to start the New Year. A family gathering with some lovely music to go with it. So today some lovely classical music from past New Year concerts;

Music on Sunday, Christmas

There are a lot of Christmas songs and I've posted a lot of them in the last years but this year I want to give you the more classical or Christmas carol songs. Although the first one isn't a real classical song it isn't a pop song either. It is a song that I discovered through an add to be honest. The Scottish Irn Bru add a few years back. But this is a lovely cartoon/film.
Enjoy and have a wonderful Christmas.

Reading and writing

It's just been a bit busy here. I've been a bit under the weather (well had the flu but went to work anyway, but very early to bed)and other than that I'm writing stories again.
Not much time to write a 'normal' blog. But I'm hoping that will change soon. Just a week more and I will have a week and a half off. Yay! So I'm hoping I will find the time to blog again.

Also I want to have some time to read more. Not only fanfiction (which I do a lot as well, not only write it) but actual books. I have some laying around.

Reading list:

- Sherlock Chronicles

- The Hobbit and LOTR books - Tolkien

- last two Outlander books - Diana Gabaldon

- Four - Veronica Roth

- Parade's End - Ford Maddox Ford

- The Steady running of the Hour - Justin Go

Music on Sunday, Top 1000

At the end of the year the different radiostations are treating us with the best of what music has to offer. All kinds of music is touching your ear most you could choose yourself by the way. They made it into a list and we can all enjoy it for days. This week the Dutch Radio Veronica has the top 1000 of all times and in a few weeks Radio 2 will have it's yearly top 2000. I love lists and music. So here are a few of the top 1000 goodies.

Heard this yesterday; hadn't heard it in ages:

I absolutely adore this song:

my fav Stones song;

Music on Sunday; Beautiful New Film Music

There are a lot of new gorgeous films coming out. From the last Hobbit film to the Imitation Game (which I'm dying to see of course)
Each of these films have wonderful music scores and here are a few of them and some older ones as well; cause a good film is nothing without a beautiful piece of music.

Starting with an older one; cause it's in my head all morning;

I

       I

            I
         I don't
      I don't want
    I don't want to
  I don't want to be
I don't want to be strong
       All the time
I feel so helpless and alone
  I feel so helpless and
    I feel so helpless
      I feel so
         I feel
            I

The Weight of the World

I feel as if
The weight of the world
Is resting
On my shoulders
I feel like
There's a stone
On the pit
Of my stomach
I would give
Anything
Not to feel
Those feelings
Over
And over
And over
Again

Music on Sunday; Top 2000

Every year around this time of year we can vote on the Top 2000 songs on Dutch radio 2. Every year it's the same old 'kill your darlings' as you can select 15 songs and 5 free choices. As always when I'm done and the list has been sent I'm thinking: I should have put that one in, or that one. I'm listening to a lot of music that isn't in a list these days so that's okay too.

Here are some of my top 2000 songs I've sent this year: More old than new. I had some newer songs but not much.

this is one of my old time favourites;

Some of my free choices:

Music on Sunday, Damien Rice

It all started for me when I listened to the song 'the Blower's daughter' from the film Closer by Damien Rice . It got to me and it still does. I have it on my Iphone and everytime I'm listening to it I get chills all over.
Now he has a new album out 'My Favourite Faded Fantasy' after 8 years of waiting and it's so good. Again chills all over!

Some random Damien Rice songs; enjoy.

Music on Sunday, Cold War

Today I opened Google to see this great Google Doodle and I immediately had my Sunday music theme; the Cold war. A lot of songs have been made about the Cold War especially in the 80's just before the wall fell.
